The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team went on the road and defeated UConn Avery Point 72-60 in Groton, Conn. on Saturday afternoon.

The road win give the Vikings a season sweep of the Pointers as they defeated them in the 2022-23 home opener on Nov. 1 in Troy, NY. The Vikings and the Pointers kept the game close for the majority of the first half as Hudson Valley took a narrow 30-29 lead into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, the Vikings outscored the Pointers 21-8 with a balanced attack, led by Tylah Langley's six points. Six Vikings scored at least one basket in the third quarter during the big run that allowed Hudson Valley to pull away for the victory.

Nya Ewans-Edmonds continued her strong play as she finished with a game-high 23 points and Langley also reached the 20-plus point plateau with 21 total points scored. Ewans-Edmonds scored 13 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter, which help the Vikings keep pace with the Pointers and prevent any kind of late game heroics.

The Vikings improved to 10-8 overall as they enter their final regular season game at Fulton-Montgomery on Monday, February 13 at 5 p.m. in Johnstown, NY.
