The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team dropped an overtime thriller 70-68 against a tough Region 3 opponent, Mohawk Valley, at the McDonough Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings and the Hawks played to a 20-20 tie in the fast-paced first quarter with Payton Graber leading the way for the Vikings. Graber scored nine of her team-best 31 points in the opening quarter to help the Vikings keep pace with the Hawks. Graber finished the game shooting 11-of-36 from the floor, 1-of-10 from behind the three-point arc and 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

After the third, the Vikings made a small run to pull within four points to set up a fourth-quarter showdown with the two programs. In the fourth, Graber paced the Vikings with 13 points (5-of-12) and had an opportunity with a half-court heave at the buzzer to win the game.

In overtime, the game remained a back-and-forth game as the Vikings were hit with a late double-bonus foul with 10 seconds left in the game, which the Hawks converted both free throws to lock in the 70-68 victory.

The Vikings are back in action on Tuesday, November 15 for their rescheduled matchup with Fulton-Montgomery at 6 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex.
