Women's Basketball Snaps Losing Streak Defeats Adirondack

 The Hudson Valley women's basketball team snapped their four-game losing streak with a dominant performance in their 80-31 win against Adirondack in Queensbury, NY on Wednesday evening. 

The Vikings kicked up their defensive effort in the first half as they held the Timberwolves to three points in the first quarter. Meanwhile, the Vikings offense shot the ball well in the opening quarter and finished with a 20-3 lead. 

Hudson Valley didn't allow more than four made field goals in any quarter as they finished the game with their second-best defensive effort this season. The Vikings allowed 19 points in their road win at Ulster on Dec. 8, 2019. 

Leading the way offensively for the Vikings was freshman guard Emily Erickson, who hit five three-point field goals and finished with a team-best 24 points. She led five Vikings in double-figure scoring. 

Kylee Masse had a career night as she scored five field goals and finished with 12 points. Grace VanRoy also played well with five made field goals for 11 points. Alexandra Rifenburg and Nia Gray rounds out the Vikings double-digit scorers. Rifenburg posted 10 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the free throw line and a made three-point field goal. Gray added three field goals, including a three-point field goal for 10 points. 

The Vikings are back home on Sunday, Feb. 2 when they take on Kingsborough at noon in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.
