Women's Basketball Falls on Road at Mohawk Valley

The Hudson Valley women's basketball team had their five game win streak snapped on Thursday evening as they Vikings were defeated 89-56 on the road against nationally ranked Mohawk Valley in Utica, NY. 

Mohawk Valley jumped on the Vikings early in the first quarter as they dropped 31 points in the opening minutes of the game. The Hawks continued to score and took a 51-26 lead into the halftime break. 

Hudson Valley couldn't overcome the early deficit with freshman guard Emily Erickson (Melrose/Tamarac) leading the charge offensively. Erickson finished the game with a team-high 22 points, which included four made three-point field goals. 

Alexandra Rifenburg (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley) finished the game with 10 points as she scored one field goal in each of the four quarters to go with a pair of free throws as a result of a pair of three-point plays. 

Hudson Valley returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 as they travel to play Fulton-Montgomery at 5 p.m. in Johnstown, NY.
