Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight; Defeats Dutchess 90-44

The Hudson Valley women's basketball team continued to show its winning form as they defeated Dutchess 90-44 on Wednesday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

The Vikings jumped out to a nice lead following the first quarter as they scored four three-point field goals for a 24-9 advantage after the first 10 minutes of the game. Freshman guard Emily Erickson (Melrose/Tamarac) continued to pace the Vikings offense. She scored 12 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 24 points. She has now surpassed the 20-point plateau for the fifth time this season. Emily entered the day ranked second in Region 3 with 21.2 points per game. 

Alexandra Rifenburg (Schaghticoke / Hoosic Valley) played a consistent game, which included scoring at one bucket in each of the quarters. She finished with 14 points on five field goals made, including a pair of three-point field goals from behind the arc. 

Anna VanRoy (Saugerties / Saugerties) finished with 12 points and Nia Gray (Fort Drum / Indian River) added 10 points as the Vikings pulled away from Dutchess for the Vikings third straight win. 

Next up for the Vikings is a back-to-back home stand against Finger Lakes (1 p.m.) on Saturday and Corning (1 p.m.) on Sunday. The games will be played at the Alumni Recreation Center on the campus of Siena College (515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211).
