Engster Leads Three Vikings with All-Region Nod

The NJCAA Region 3 released its 2019 women's basketball All-Region teams, as voted on by the head coaches. Sophomore Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central) earned First Team honors to lead a trio of Vikings who earned All-Region honors this season. 

Engster, a Third-Team All-Region recipient a season ago, has earned First-Team All-Region honors this season after another successful season as one of the more versatile student-athletes in program history. She is currently averaging 14.4 points per game and leads the team with 7.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists (3rdin Region 3) and 3.0 steals per game (5thin Region 3). Engster ranks seventh on the all-time scoring list with 752 career points and ranks fifth with 232 career assists. Taylor tallied 130 assists this season, which is seventh most in a single season in Vikings history and currently leads all of Region 3. 

Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac), a two-time All-Region selection, led the Vikings in scoring for the second consecutive season. She finished the regular season averaged 15.9 points per game (8thin Region 3) and has compiled 846 career points, which ranks third on the Vikings all-time scoring list. Kreiger has reached double-digit scoring in 22 games this season and surpassed the 20-point plateau six times. 

Caitlin Estes (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) earned Second-Team All-Region honors in her first season with Hudson Valley. Estes joined the program a few weeks into the season and hit the ground running as one of the best pure scorers in the region. Caitlin ranks seventh in Region 3 and led the Vikings with 16.0 points per game this season. Estes saw action in 21 games this year and started the season by scoring double-figures in 16 consecutive games. Estes scored a career-high 27 points on Feb. 9 at North Country and is expected to return to the women's basketball program next season. 

The women's basketball season concluded on Tuesday evening follow the Vikings 75-67 loss at No. 4 Jefferson.
