Engster Scores 26; Women's Basketball Wins Eighth Straight

The Hudson Valley women's basketball team (14-3) extended their streak to eight straight wins following their 98-62 win over Monroe-Bronx on Saturday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex in Troy, NY.
The No. 10 ranked Vikings finished the game with five individuals scoring in double-digits and were led by Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central). Engster filled the stat sheet for Hudson Valley as she finished with a game-high 26 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Caitlin Estes (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) and Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) combined to hit six three-point field goals. Estes finished with 18 points and nine rebounds and Kreiger tallied 13 points.
Malainah Elliott (Utica/Thomas R. Proctor) and Madison Graber (Schenectady/Schalmont) totaled 33 combined points. Elliott shot 5-for-9 from the floor and added four steals to go with her 17 points. Graber shot 8-for-15 and totaled eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Hayley Jones (Catskill/Catskill) narrowly missed a double-double as she finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.
The women's program returns to the court this Saturday, January 19 when they welcome Fulton-Montgomery to the McDonough Sports Complex in Troy, NY. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
