Women's Basketball Falls in NJCAA Region 3 Quarterfinals

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball (18-10) season came to a close on Tuesday evening after they were defeated in the NJCAA Region 3 quarterfinal round 65-60 at No.2 North Country.

The Vikings entered the final quarter trailing by two points, 44-42 and Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central) took over for Hudson Valley, scoring 12 points in the final quarter and helped the Vikings grab a late game lead. With three minutes remaining, the Vikings had a nine-point advantage but were unable to hold on to the lead as North Country fought back and secured the 65-60 win.

Engster finished the game with a game-high 21 points. Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) also finished with a game-high 21 points, including four three-point baskets made.

As the 2017-18 season comes to an end, the season was an overall success as the Vikings finished with a winning season and qualified for the NJCAA Region 3 tournament for the first time in three seasons. Freshman guard Hannah Kreiger finished with 93 made three-point field goals and currently ranks third in the nation. As a team, the Vikings finished the regular season atop the NJCAA rankings with 235 made three-point field goals.
