Women's Basketball Victorious at Fulton-Montgomery

Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball improved to 10-7 on the season after defeating Fulton-Montgomery 69-45 on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings closed out the first quarter with a 14-9 lead and then the offense exploded for 22 points in the second quarter thanks to the three-point shooting by Melpomeni Doutsis (Albany/Albany). Doutsis scored nine of her game-high 22 points, including six three-point field goals. Doutsis also grabbed 11 rebounds to record her second career double-double at Hudson Valley.  

Kali Szczepanski (Las Vegas/Watervliet) and Cameran Henderson (Green Island/Heatly) combined for 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in tonight's win as the Vikings were playing without their second leading scorer, Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central). Hayley Jones (Catskill/Catskill) poured in nine points and added seven rebounds and three assists in tonight's win.

As a team, the Vikings combined to make 11 three-point field goals, tallied 44 rebounds and dished out 16 total assists.

The Vikings is back in action this Saturday, Jan. 27 when they welcome conference member Herkimer to the McDonough Sports Complex with a 3 p.m. scheduled tip.
