Women's Basketball's Fourth Quarter Rally Falls Short at TC3

Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball (7-4) lost its second straight game on Sunday afternoon 75-68 at Tompkins Cortland Community College. 

As a team, the Vikings shot 30.9% from the floor, including 29.6% from behind the arc and 55.6% from the free-throw line. Hudson Valley fell behind 15-8 in the first quarter and trailed 62-44 at the start of the fourth quarter. The Vikings went on a run in the fourth, outscoring the Panthers 24-13 in the final quarter, but came up short and the Panthers held on for the win.

Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) led all scorers as she finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-for-16, including 6-for-11 from behind the arc. Kreiger also finished with 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of her collegiate career.

Cameran Henderson (Green Island/Heatly) added 19 points off the bench for the Vikings on 7-for-15 shooting and has now scored in double-figures in three straight games. Henderson also tallied three rebounds, four assists and four steals on the afternoon.

Tompkins Cortland's Jaida Washington earned a triple-double as she finished with 20 points, 22 rebounds and 10 blocks against the Vikings. Taylor Day also finished with 20 points and added six rebounds and six assists in the win for the Panthers.

The women's program is back in action this Wednesday, Dec. 13 as they travel to face Springfield Tech at 7:30 p.m.
