Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball (5-1) extended its win streak to four straight after defeating Schenectady County Community College on the road 55-50 on Sunday afternoon.
Late in the fourth quarter, Schenectady pulled within a possession of the Vikings and Hudson Valley's Melpomeni Doutsis (Albany/Albany) responded by hitting a clutch 3-pointer to put the game out of reach of the Royals to secure the Vikings fifth win of the year and remain undefeated in the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference (3-0). Doutsis finished with a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 15 rebounds.
Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central) led the Vikings with 11 points and added six rebounds and four assists in the win. Christina Wright (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) also secured a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes of play.
Cameran Henderson (Green Island/Heatly) scored nine points with six rebounds and Kali Szczepanski (Las Vegas/Watervliet) added seven points in the win.
The Vikings are off for the holiday break and will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 to face Monroe College at 6 p.m.
