Coach Rick Tedisco was hired as the Vikings head softball coach on Sept. 30, 2020, and has been instrumental in elevating the program to one of the top contenders in NJCAA Region 3. Despite challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, Coach Tedisco quickly established the softball program as a competitive force in the region.
In the 2023-24 season, the Vikings achieved a strong 20-10 record (.667), marking their third consecutive 20-win season under Coach Tedisco's leadership. The team earned a No. 3 seed in the Region 3 postseason, once again proving their status as a top team in the Region.
In 2022-23, the Vikings posted a 21-18 record, securing the No. 4 seed in the Region 3 postseason. They advanced through a three-game sub-regional series with Jefferson and reached the Region 3 championship series for the second consecutive season, where they ultimately fell to the National runner-up, Corning.
The 2021-22 season saw the program’s return to action after a three-year hiatus caused by pandemic-related cancellations. That year, the team finished 21-13, surpassing 20 wins for the first time in recent program history. The season included an impressive 17-game win streak to close out the regular season, earning the No. 3 seed in the Region 3 postseason, where they eventually fell in the championship series to Herkimer.
Coach Tedisco began his softball coaching career in 2008. In 2014, he founded the Capital District Fusion Girls Softball travel organization, which has since expanded to include eight teams ranging from 12U to 18U. His teams have earned multiple state and national titles, as well as numerous championships and sportsmanship awards.
Tedisco's extensive experience and commitment to developing young athletes have made him a respected figure in the softball community, both locally and beyond.
