Coach Rick Tedisco was hired as the Vikings head softball coach on Sept. 30, 2020 and guided the softball program through the Covid-19 pandemic and quickly solidified the softball program as a top-tiered program in the NJCAA Region 3.

In 2022-23, the softball program remained strong as one of the top teams in the Region. Under Coach Tedisco, the program posted its second straight 20-win season and finished with a 21-18 record and earned a No. 4 seed in the Region 3 postseason. Following a three-game sub-regional series with Jefferson, the softball team earned a trip to the Region 3 championship series for the second straight season where they were defeated by National runner up, Corning.

In 2021-22, the softball team was back in action following a three-year hiatus with the pandemic canceling the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The program also had to cancel the 2019 season resulting from low participation and injuries, which prevented the Vikings from fielding a full squad. During the first season since 2018, Coach Tedisco and the softball program finished with a 21-13 record, surpassing 20-wins for the first time since …. During the season, the team went on a historic 17-game win streak to close out the season and claimed the No. 3 seed in the Region 3 postseason before falling to Herkimer in the championship series.

Coach Tedisco began coaching girls softball in 2008 and in 2014, he founded the Capital District Fusion Girls Softball travel organization. The organization started with one team and has grown to include eight teams ranging from 12u to 18u.  His teams have won multiple state and national titles as well as numerous championships and sportsmanship awards throughout his coaching career.

Coach Rick lives in Niskayuna, NY, is married and has twin daughters.
