Softball Rolls Past Genesee on Senior Day

Maeve Brannigan collected three hits in three at bats, as the Vikings defeated Genesee 13-0 on Saturday at home. Brannigan singled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
The Vikings got on the board in the first inning after Reegan Mullen doubled, scoring three runs. The Vikings extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Angelise Montanez and Brannigan. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Anna Siter doubled to center field, Montanez hit a sacrifice fly, Genesee CC committed an error, Brannigan singled down the left field line, and Grace Harris doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
Moira Collins earned the win for the Vikings. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
The Vikings accumulated 16 hits in the game. Harris, Izabelle Ratcliffe, Samantha Graham, Siter, and Lily Brennan each collected multiple hits for the Vikings.
The second game of the day was played until the end of the 4th inning when the rain forced the game to be called.
The Vikings play in the Region 3 Playoffs on Saturday, May 10th.
