Softball Rolls Past Niagara at Home

GAME ONE: HVCC 15 - SUNY NIAGARA 1
Izabelle Ratcliffe hit two home runs and drove in five as the Vikings defeated SUNY Niagara 15-1 on Sunday. Ratcliffe homered in the third and second innings.
The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Maeve Brannigan grounded out, scoring one run, Reegan Mullen doubled, scoring two runs, and Lily Brennan singled, scoring one run. Ratcliffe homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second for The the Vikings. The Vikings scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Kayden Craft singled, scoring one run, Ratcliffe homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Samantha Graham hit a solo home run to center field.
Moira Collins earned the win for the Vikings. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking two.
The Vikings accumulated 13 hits in the game. Angelise Montanez and Mullen each collected three hits for the Vikings. Graham collected two hits for the Vikings in four at bats. Grace Harris paced the Vikings with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 13 - SUNY NIAGARA 3
Samantha Graham drove in six runs on two hits to lead the Vikings past SUNY Niagara 13-3 in game two. Graham hit a grand slam to center field in the fifth inning, scoring four runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two.
A solo home run to right field by Izabelle Ratcliffe put the Vikings on the board in the top of the first. A single by Ratcliffe gave the Vikings the lead, 3-1, in the top of the third. The Vikings added four more runs in the top of the fourth inning on three hits. Reegan Mullen hit a solo home run to center field, Angelise Montanez singled, scoring one run, and Graham singled, scoring two runs. Six more the Vikings runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 13-2. Anna Siter singled, scoring two runs, and Graham hit a grand slam to center field.
Mullen earned the win for the Vikings. The starting pitcher surrendered nine hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking none.
The Vikings amassed 11 hits in the game. Montanez, Ratcliffe, Graham, and Lily Brennan each collected two hits for the Vikings. The Vikings were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Montanez had the most chances in the field with five.
Next up for the Vikings is a game against Genesee at home on Saturday at 1pm and 3pm.
