Softball Defeats Herkimer On Back Of Clutch Display From Graham

Samantha Graham drove in seven runs on five hits to lead the Vikings past Herkimer 24-7 on Thursday in Herkimer, NY. Graham hit a home run to left field in the second scoring two, doubled in the third scoring two, doubled in the fourth scoring two, and doubled in the fifth scoring one.
The Vikings got on the board in the top of the first inning after Grace Harris singled, scoring one run, Reegan Mullen doubled, scoring one run, and Lily Brennan singled, scoring two runs. Four more the Vikings runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 8-1. Izabelle Ratcliffe singled, scoring one run, Graham homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Mullen singled, scoring one run.
A double by Graham extended the Vikings lead to 10-1 in the top of the third inning. The Vikings scored eight runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning. Kaitlin Neumeister doubled, scoring one run, Kayden Craft grounded out, scoring one run, Ratcliffe singled, scoring one run, Graham doubled, scoring two runs, Maeve Brannigan doubled, scoring one run, Harris doubled, scoring one run, and Brennan singled, scoring one run.
The Vikings scored six runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Graham doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored one run, an error scored one run, Amanda DeJesus singled, scoring one run, and Angelise Montanez singled, scoring one run.
Moira Collins stepped in the circle first for the Vikings. The righty allowed eight hits and seven runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
The Vikings collected 24 hits in the game. Harris, Brannigan, Montanez, Ratcliffe, Mullen, and Brennan each collected multiple hits for the Vikings.
The second game of the day was called for field safety when the umpires found exposed brick in the mound area. The Vikings have their first game at home on Saturday, April 19th against Finger Lakes at 12pm and 2pm.
