Softball Falls to Mercer on the Road

GAME ONE: HVCC 1 - MERCER 4

The Vikings could not keep pace with Mercer, 4-1 on Sunday. An error put Mercer on the board in the bottom of the first.

Moira Collins stepped in the circle first for the Vikings. The right-handed pitcher allowed nine hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Maeve Brannigan and Samantha Graham were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Vikings. Lily Brennan led the Vikings with one run batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. 

GAME TWO: HVCC 4 - MERCER 11

The Vikings had trouble keeping up with Mercer in an 11-4 loss on Sunday. 

The Vikings made the score 8-4 in the top of the fifth inning when one run scored on another play, and Samantha Graham homered to left field, scoring two runs. Reegan Mullen pitched four innings in relief for the Vikings. The pitcher gave up six hits and three runs while, striking out three and walking none. Kaitlin Neumeister stepped in the circle first for the Vikings. The hurler allowed three hits and eight runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking nine. Graham provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Vikings with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Angelise Montanez and Graham each collected two hits for the Vikings.

The Vikings play again on Thursday, March 27th at Herkimer at 3pm and 5pm.
