Softball's Back to Winning Ways with ACC Sweep

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team got back to its winning ways as they snapped its seven-game losing streak in a dominating fashion. The softball team powered past SUNY Adirondack with a series sweep on Tuesday afternoon in Queensbury, NY

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 18, Adirondack 3 (Final – 5 innings)

The Vikings did not waste any time as they scored eight runs in the top of the first inning and six runs in the top of the second inning as they cruised to a win over Adirondack in the opening game. The win featured 15 hits and a season-high 18 runs with four Vikings recording multi-hit games. Angelise Montanez and Kayden Craft each finished the day with three hits and Izabelle Ratcliffe and Grace Harris each tallied two hits.

Ratcliffe drove in five runs on two hits, including a three-run home run in the top of the first inning, which set the tone for the rest of the day. In the circle, Moira Collins earned her fifth win of the season, tossing a complete game while allowed three runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 10, Adirondack 2 (Final – 5 innings)

In the final game of the day, Reegan Mullen led the way offensively and in the pitching circle. Mullen powered two home runs and drove in four runs while also shining on the mound as she tossed a complete game, one-hitter and allowed two runs with four walks and three strikeouts. Mullen finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a team-best four RBIs.

Kayden Craft continued to strike the ball well, collecting two more hits and two RBIs in the second game. Anna Siter also tallied two hits, going 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored.

The softball team is scheduled to return to action this Thursday, April 18th as they travel to take on Onondaga in a crucial Region 3 matchup at 3 p.m. in Syracuse, NY.
