The Hudson Valley Community College softball team dropped both games today against nationally-ranked and last season's national runner-up, Corning, on Sunday afternoon at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY.

GAME ONE: #6 Corning 13, Hudson Valley 0 (6 innings)

The nationally-ranked Corning program proved to be too much for the Vikings in the opening game of the series as they scored 13 runs on 15 hits and held HVCC to zero runs on three hits. The Vikings did not help themselves on the defensive end as they recorded four errors in game one, a theme that carried over into game two.

Angelise Montanez, Izabelle Ratcliffe and Anna Siter each collected one hit and as a team, the Vikings accumulated four walks.

GAME TWO: #6 Corning 13, Hudson Valley 11 (Final)

In the final game of the day, The Vikings offense rebounded nicely as they put up 11 runs on 10 hits, thanks to a big seven-run third inning, but the Vikings were unable to hold off the nationally-ranked Reb Barons as the defensive tallied six errors, resulting in six unearned runs during the first three innings of the game.

Anna Siter, Reegan Mullen and Nadia Hotaling all finished the game with two hits each and combined to score four runs and five RBIs. Mullen had a big game at the plate, hitting a double and a triple for a team-high five total bases.

The Vikings are expected to host its home-opener this Tuesday as they welcome Herkimer to Troy, NY for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
