Softball Sweeps Delaware Tech & Moraine Valley

The Hudson Valley Community College softball program played extremely well during their third day at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Vikings have now won four straight games and improved to 5-1 on the year.

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 6, Delaware Tech 5 (Final-9 innings)

The Vikings faced late game adversity as they gave up a five-run lead with Delaware Tech forcing extra innings after scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Vikings held tough and pulled away with the win after Nadia Hotaling scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning.

Moira Collins earned the win in relief as she pitched the final three innings of the game and gave up two runs on two hits with three strikeouts. Reegan Mullen started the game strong, pitching the first 4.1 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits.

At the plate, Kayden Craft and Anna Siter combined for five hits in eight at-bats and drove in two runs to pace the Vikings offense. As a team, Hudson Valley accumulated nine hits and only struck out four times in 34 at-bats.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 7, Moraine Valley 1 (Final)

In the final game of the day, the Vikings closed out another 2-0 record as the team finished with 13 hits, seven RBIs and only struck out twice in 32 at-bats. Reegan Mullen led the way at the plate with team-highs, three hits, two runs and two RBIs. Nadia Hotaling and Anna Siter each recorded two hits and drove in a run.

Moira Collins had a quick turnaround after she closed out the first game of the day. Collins tossed the first four innings and allowed zero runs on two hits with six strikeouts. She has had one of the best starts to the season in recent history. Siter closed out the final three innings, giving up one run on four hits with a pair of strikeouts.

ON DECK:

The softball team enters its final day of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic tomorrow, March 14th as they are set to play WVU Potomac at 9 AM (Field 1) and will end the day with a rematch with CC of Rhode Island at 1 PM (Field 2).
