Gemmett, Mannis named to All-Region Teams

The Hudson Valley Community College softball program had two student-athletes named to the NJCAA Region 3 All-Region teams for their outstanding performances all season, as announced by the Region on Wednesday afternoon.
Carly Gemmett and Katie Mannis were recognized by the Region 3 head coaches and were named to the NJCAA Region 3 Second Team.
Gemmett (Colonie/Colonie) starred as the Vikings pitching ace all season and has put together several outstanding pitching performances, which included two straight no-hitters in wins over Onondaga and Adirondack. She finished the season with a 15-6 record, tossing 15 complete games and allowed 60 runs on 119 hits and posted a 3.33 ERA with a Region 3-best 174 strikeouts in 126 innings. Gemmett had nine games where she struck out 10 or more batters, including a season-high 16 strikeouts in her complete game win over Finger Lakes on April 22.
Mannis (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) was launched into double-duty as the team's second pitcher and starting first baseman and she stepped up to the plate and strived in both roles this season. Mannis finished fifth in the Region with seven home runs and hit .351 on the year with 33 hits, 11 doubles, two triples with 30 RBIs and 17 walks. Mannis ends her two-years at HVCC as a .381 career hitter and tallied 28 doubles, 72 hits and 57 RBIs.
As a pitcher, Mannis started 13 games and finished with a 6-6 record and six complete games. She tossed 72.1 innings and finished with a 4.45 ERA, while allowed 75 runs on 93 hits.
Gemmett, Mannis and the softball program have advanced to the NJCAA Region 3 Championships series for the second consecutive year and are set to take on top-seeded Corning for an opportunity to earn a berth in the 2023 NJCAA National Championships this Thursday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in Corning, NY for a best-of-three series.
