The Hudson Valley Community College softball program split its games against Jefferson this afternoon at the Vikings Softball Field and will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, May 14 for the decisive game-three for an opportunity to advance to the Region 3 Championship series against top-ranked Corning.

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 4, Jefferson 3 (9-innings)

The Vikings needed extra-innings to secure the walk-off win in the opening game of the series, which was highlighted by an excellent pitching performance by Carly Gemmett (Colonie./Colonie). Gemmett earned the win as she tossed a complete-game, allowing only two runs on seven hits and struck out 14 batters.

Hudson Valley managed four runs on four hits with Hannah Taylor (double), Abby Campbell, Maryssa Sano and Erin Madsen (triple) all collecting a hit in the game one win.

GAME TWO: Jefferson 6, Hudson Valley 0 (Final)

In the second game, Hudson Valley struggled to string together any kind of rally against the Jefferson defense and pitching as the Cannoneers forced a game-three on Sunday. Hudson Valley collected five hits, including three hits in the final two innings.

Katie Mannis took the loss in the circle as she battled through six innings and gave up six runs on nine hits including seven walks on 124 pitches.
