The Hudson Valley Community College softball program dropped two games against nationally-ranked Corning on Monday afternoon.

The Vikings jumped on the board in the second inning when Gianna Bucciero launched a solo home run over the left field fence. Kaylee LaForest also recorded a hit as she finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk and a strikeout. Carly Gemmett took the loss as she surrendered seven runs on five hits in four innings.

GAME TWO: Corning 10, Hudson Valley 2 (5 Innings)

Hudson Valley allowed six runs in the fifth inning, which allowed Corning to open up the game after leading 4-1 after four innings.

Following the six-run inning, the Vikings scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jody Rogers scored on an RBI single to centerfield by Abby Campbell. Rogers also earned an RBI on a fielder's choice in the second inning when she batted in Kaylee LaForest for the Vikings's first run of the game.

Kate Mannis took the loss in the circle for Hudson Valley as she pitched three innings and allowed four runs on five hits. Gianna Bucciero and Carly Gemmett combined forces to close of the final two innings.
