The Hudson Valley Community College softball program earned its first win of the season after defeating North Central Missouri College 13-6 in the second game of the day at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC.

GAME ONE: Delaware Tech 15, Hudson Valley 1 (5 innings)

The Vikings jumped out to a quick first inning lead, but couldn't hold off a strong offensive showing by Delaware Tech. Hudson Valley scored on a ground out by Maryssa Sano, which allowed Hannah Taylor to score. Taylor led off the game with a single to centerfield and later advanced to third on an error, which set up the scoring opportunity on Sano's groundout to shortstop.

Gianna Bucciero took the loss as the starting pitcher as she allowed 10 hits and 13 runs over two innings. Bucciero also collected a hit in the first inning, a fly ball to leftfield.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 13, North Central Missouri College 6 (7 innings)

In the second game, everything clicked for the Vikings, the offense was produced 13 runs on 16 hits and the defense did not commit an error for the first time this season.

Six Vikings recorded multiple hits and were led by Abby Campbell, who finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, including four doubles and two RBIs. Katie Mannis and Maryssa Sano each tallied three hits with Mannis connecting on two home runs and drove in a team-high five runs. Sano had one double with an RBI.

Hudson Valley entered the fifth inning trailing 6-4 when Mannis homered on a 0-1 count, which scored three runs and put the Vikings back on top 7-6. Hudson Valley continued the scoring with five more runs in the sixth inning, which Mannis was right in the middle of the sixth inning scoring, as she connected on her second home run of the game in their final inning.

Hannah Taylor finished the game 2-for-5 with an RBI and drove in a run. Jody Rogers also finished with two hits, scored twice and stole a pair of bases, while freshman Angelina Pierro had a strong showing at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.
