The Hudson Valley Community College softball program split its double with Saint Elizabeth University, a four-year, Division III program from the Colonial States Athletic Conference in Morristown, NJ.

GAME ONE: Saint Elizabeth 8, Hudson Valley 2

Hudson Valley jumped out to a strong start against Saint Elizabeth as they got their offense started when Gianna Bucciero connected on a 2-0 pitch for a double, scoring Abigayle Campbell, who reached base on a Saint Elizabeth error.

Saint Elizabeth rallied to scored six runs in the next two innings and they kept the Vikings offense off-balance as Hudson Valley struck out eight times and tallied seven hits. Jody Rogers led the Vikings with two hits in her three at-bats.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 5, Saint Elizabeth 1

The Vikings utilized another first inning rally to get on the board early and did not look back as they defeated Saint Elizabeth 5-1 in the last game of the day. Hudson Valley scored three runs on a Bucciero single and a Maryssa Sano double, eliminating the early 1-0 deficit and took over the momentum of the remainder of the game.

Shealynn Peckowitz took the win for the Vikings as she pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and one run, while striking out 11 batters.

As a team, the Vikings collected eight hits with Bucciero and Gabriella Castiglione each finishing with multi-hit games. The duo both collected two hits, with Bucciero adding a run scored and an RBI.
