Softball Sweeps Fulton-Montgomery for Six Straight

Hudson Valley Community College softball team (6-12) extended their win streak to six straight games following the two game sweep over Fulton-Montgomery on Friday afternoon at Vikings Softball Field in Troy, NY.  

Game One: Hudson Valley 8, Fulton-Montgomery 0 (5 innings)

The Vikings came out of the gate ready to play as they scored six runs in the first two innings. Hudson Valley's offense was led by sophomore Paige Roberts(Cobleskill/Cobleskill) as she finished the game 3-for-3 with two doubles, one home run and three RBIs. Roberts also scored three of the Vikings eight runs. 

Amanda Kenyon(Mechanicville/Mechanicville) had a nice day at the plate as she finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. 

Elizabeth Brooking(Rensselaer/Rensselaer) had a great game at the plate on the mound. Brooking went 2-for-2 at the plate, including a double and an RBI. She tossed a complete game gem as she allowed three hits and collected four strikeouts in five innings. 

Game Two: Hudson Valley 15, Columbia-Greene 0 (6 innings)

To secure the sweep, the Vikings had a dominate hitting performance across the board. Led by Sierra Putnam(Nassau/New Lebanon), the Vikings combined for 25 runs on 24 hits against Fulton-Montgomery. 

Putnam finished the game going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, which included a monster home run over the left field fence and three RBIs. 

Gina Patricelli(Troy/Lansingburg) also had a strong game at the plate, going 3-for 3 and Brooking added her big day with another 2-for-2 game on the day. 

Matti Hayes(Castleton/Columbia) earned the win for the Vikings and helped herself as she went 4-for-6 at the plate and drove in four Vikings runs. Hayes tossed a complete game and allowed seven runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

The Vikings are back in action on Sunday, May 6 for the 2018 regular season finale with hopes to extend their winning streak to eight games. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
