Hudson Valley Community College softball team (0-12) dropped both games against Columbia-Greene Community College on Thursday afternoon at Ichabod Crane High School.  

Game One: Hudson Valley 0, Columbia-Greene 15 (5 Innings)

The Vikings got off to a slow start in game one as they fell behind the Twins early and were unable to find their rhythm at the plate. As a team, Hudson Valley combined for two hits and four walks in 16 at-bats.

Matti Hayes (Castleton/Columbia) and Paige Roberts (Cobleskill/Cobleskill) collected the Vikings two hits. Hayes has been hitting the ball very well all season and finished the game 1-for-2 with a walk. Hayes is currently batting .333 and has put together a six game hit streak.

Roberts also finished 1-for-2 and is currently leading the team with a .485 batting average with five multi-hit games in the last eight games.

Game Two: Hudson Valley 3, Columbia-Greene 11 (6 Innings)

The Vikings offense responded in the second game and trailed 4-2 as the Twins' offense came to the plate in the bottom of the third inning. Columbia-Greene then scored seven runs in the next three innings to defeat Hudson Valley 11-3.

Roberts collected another multi-hit game and drove in two RBIs, including a double in game two. Sierra Putnam (Nassau/New Lebanon) also finished with a double, scored a run and stole a base for Hudson Valley.

Andrea Boon (Saranac Lake/Saranac Lake) and Gina Patricelli (Troy/Lansingburgh) each scored a run and combined for three walks.

On Deck:

The Vikings are on the road this Saturday, April 28 as they travel to play a doubleheader against Mohawk Valley. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
