The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (10-4) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (2-8) 5-1 and 16-0 on Thursday afternoon.
Mercedes Martell (Coxsackie-Athens/Earlton) and Ashley Robinson (Whitesboro/Whitesboro) each went 3-3, and Shelby Fenton (Catholic Central/Troy) added two hits in game one. Robinson received the win on the mound with six strikeouts for her fourth win of the season.
Also earning her fourth win of the season was Dana Julian (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) who threw five innings with five strikeouts in game two. Jessica James (Greenwich/Greenwich) led the team with three hits, including a grand slam and three stolen bases, and Martell added her first homerun of the season. Courtney McDonnell (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) went 3-4 with four stolen bases to finish with eight stolen bases on the day, and Hannah Mochrie (Colonie/Colonie) added three hits with four RBIs.
The softball team travels to Corning on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
