The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (8-4) defeated Clinton Community College (0-4) 17-0 in both game one and two on Tuesday afternoon.
Alaina Harrington (Rensselaer/Schodack) was the winning pitcher in game one, recording four strikeouts to complete the shutout. Hannah Mochrie (Colonie/Colonie) led the team going 3-3 with three runs scored. Hannah Hoffman (Averill Park/Wynantskill) recorded her first homerun of the season to go along with a double and three runs, and Shannon Johnson (Averill Park/Wynantskill) and Courtney McDonnell (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) each recorded two hits in the win.
Dana Julian (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) allowed only three hits in her second consecutive start to complete the game two shutout. McDonnell led the team going 3-3 with a double and triple, and Mochrie had a team-high five RBIs, including a grand slam. Shelby Fenton (Catholic Central/Troy) and Brittany Ubrich (Mechanicville/Mechanicville) each homered in the 17-run rout.
The softball team hosts Fulton-Montgomery on Thursday at 3 p.m.
