The Hudson Valley Community College men's cross country team showcased an impressive performance at the NJCAA Region 3 Championships on Saturday morning at Herkimer College.
Freshman Drew Schroeder led the charge for the Vikings, claiming second place with a time of 28:40.8, just shy of the top spot. Michael Kleinman, finishing eighth overall, and Robert Wiltsie placed 11th, also contributed crucial team points. Ryan Keane and Nick Ricciardi rounded out the scoring for the Vikings, with placements of 14th and 25th, respectively.
As a team, the Vikings earned third place with a score of 60 points, trailing only behind the top two teams (Onondaga & Erie) in a competitive field. This result demonstrates the Vikings' depth and strength, as all five scoring runners finished in the top 30, solidifying their standing among the region's best. The Vikings' consistent effort, pacing, and teamwork were evident throughout the challenging 8K course, highlighting their commitment to a strong finish in the region.
With this result, Hudson Valley's men's cross country team now shifts focus to the NJCAA National Championships, where they aim to build on this momentum and compete against the nation's elite on Saturday, November 9th at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va.
