Cross Country Competes at James Earley Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country programs traveled to compete in the annual James Earley Invitational hosted Westfield State University at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
The men's cross country team had a solid performance in the 8K race. Their top finisher was Drew Schroeder (Ghent / HSED), placing 61st overall with a time of 28:55.89, averaging a mile pace of 5:49. He was followed by Michael Kleinman (Northport / Northport), who came in 100th with a time of 30:39.64.
Other contributors included Robert Wiltsie (Castleton / Columbia), finishing in 125th place with a time of 31:56.82, and Ryan Keane (Ballston Lake / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), who secured 142nd place, clocking 33:08.11. Nick Ricciardi (Pattersonville / Schalmont) rounded out Hudson Valley's top five, finishing in 159th with a time of 34:52.43.
Overall, the team ranked 16th out of 18 teams, with a total time of 2:39:32.89, averaging 31:54.58 per runner. This event was a competitive experience, with the team working hard and building momentum for future races.
The women's cross country team competed in the 5K race. Leading the team was Athena Seebald (Wynantskill / Columbia), who placed 96th overall with a time of 22:33.03, maintaining an average mile pace of 7:15.5.
Emily Wilson (East Greenbush / Columbia) followed, finishing in 144th place with a time of 26:10.28, and Meghan Cowles (Gansevoort / Schuylerville) came in 150th with a time of 28:05.36. Rounding out the team were Sanaiya Adams (Troy / Troy) (151st, 28:05.91) and Brooklyn Callaghan (Rensselaer / Columbia) (155th, 33:57.26).
The team finished 16th overall with a total time of 2:18:51.84, averaging 27:46.37 per runner. It was a challenging race, and the Hudson Valley women put in a solid effort against tough competition
The program will now prepare for the Mountain Valley Conference Championship meet on Saturday, October 19th at Herkimer College.
