Cross Country Competes in SUNY Poly Short Course

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country programs began its 2023 season at the SUNY Poly Short Course meet, hosted by SUNY Poly in Utica, NY on Saturday morning.

The men's program placed third out of nine participating programs and was led by Samuel Van Auken, who placed 10th overall with a time of 21:12. Cross country returners, Adam Blough and Garrick Smith-Growick placed 28th and 30th, respectively. Blough finished with an official time of 22:58 and Smith-Growick posted a time of 23:06.

Rounding out the remaining team scores are: Micah Suh (43rd – 23:39), Imran Abdul-Qayoom (45th – 24:01), Jaco Kraft (46th – 24:11), William Petramale (49th – 24:21), Aaron Wilcox (56th – 25:23) and Ian Shaw (58th – 25:40).

The women's program also placed third overall out of nine programs at the SUNY Poly Short Course meet. The women's team was led by Laurel Ticer, who placed 34th overall with a time of 22:26. Rebecca Martin placed 40th overall with an official time of 23:15 and Sydney Swedish was not too far behind in 42nd place overall with a time of 23:45.

Madison Washburn (45th – 24:59) and Rebecca Seither (48th – 27:03) rounds out the women's team scoring.

The cross country programs are back in action this Saturday, Sept. 9 as they travel to compete in the SUNY Cobleskill Steven A. Warde Invitational beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Cobleskill, NY.
