The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country programs continued its stellar season as they both earned top-3 finishes at the Cazenovia College Invitational on Saturday morning in Cazenovia, NY.
The women's program finished second (out of eight teams) in the meet and were led by sophomore Olivia Skylstad, who finished runner-up with a time of 22:15. All five runners finished inside the top-25 in the meet. Laurel Ticer placed 12th with an official time of 24:20.
Eva Sgambettera and Jessica Wank finished back-to-back with Sgambettera placing 16th overall with a time of 25:36 and Wank crossed the finish line in 17th place with a time of 25:58. Rebecca Seiter placed 22nd and rounds out the Vikings scoring. Seiter posted an official time of 27:29.
The men's program also finished well at Cazenovia as the program placed third out of nine programs. Leading the way for the Vikings was Eric Zumpe, last week's NJCAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Zumpe placed third overall and finished with a time of 29:53.
The Vikings next best finish was Jake Kinnicutt, who placed 21st overall and posted a time of 32:28. Justin Layer placed 24thand Adam Blough finished 28th to round out the Vikings runners with a top-30 finish. Layer crossed the line with a time of 33:01 and Blough posted a time of 33:46. Rounding out the Vikings scoring is William Petramale, who placed 30th overall and finished with a time of 33:56.
The remaining runners for the men were Jordon Wagner (33rd – 34:43), Ian Shaw (46th – 36:46), Caden Jarvais (52nd – 38:35), Cody Tyler (55th – 39:11) and Aidan Alaxanian (64th- 49:45).
Next up for the men's and women's cross country programs is the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State University on Saturday, October 8 in Westfield, Mass.
