Cross Country Runs Well at Cazenovia Homecoming Invitational

The Hudson Valley men's and women's cross country programs competed in the Cazenovia Homecoming Invitational on Saturday morning in Cazenovia, NY. 

The women's program finished the 5K race in fourth out of six qualifying teams. The race had representation from 10 total institutions. Hudson Valley was led by freshman McKenzie Ryan, who finished the race in second place and posted a time of 22:32. Anna Clarke placed 12th overall with a final time of 24:28.

Rounding out the Vikings scoring were Ashley Martinez (26:05),  Michaela Troy (27:01), Rachel Dempsey (31:21) and Emily Maynard (35:39).

The men's cross country team finished their 8K race in third out of eight qualifying teams. Overall, the invitational had representation from 11 institutions.  Leading the way for the Vikings was Evan Rogotzke, who finished the race in sixth place with a time of 31:22. Joseph Degiorgio also earned a top-10 finished with a time of 32:15. 

Ryan Bruce crossed the finish line in 12th place and posted a time of 32:50. Rounding out the men's scoring were Dermot O'Connor (33:06), Justin Caron (35:59) and Ethan Welkley (37:38).

Oswaldo Arias finished with a time of 42:41 and Edgar Alamo-Benitez had a time of 44:55.

The cross county programs are back in action on Saturday, Oct., 12 when they travel to compete in the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University in Westfield, Mass.
