Cross Country Performs Well at James Earley Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross-country teams had a strong showing among some of the region's best cross country programs in the Northeast at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State. 

The women's team had all five runners cross the finish line in under 25:00 minutes with Mercedes Planavsky (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) leading the way in the 5K race. Planavsky placed 38thoverall with a final time of 19:58. 

Sarah Rosenberger (Home School/Saratoga Springs) crossed the line in 99thplace with a time of 21:28 and Anna Clarke (Bethlehem/Bethlehem) finished with an official time of 22:05.

Leigha Gaschel (Cairo/Cairo-Durham) finished 136thwith a final time of 22:32 and Ashley Martinez (Red Hook/Red Hook) rounds out the final scoring for the women's team with a time of 23:38. Hannah Whitecrossed the finish line with a time of 24:31.  

The men's team was led by Jared Craw (Colonie/Colonie) as he finished 31stoverall with a final time of 27:18 in the 8K race. Holden Maynard (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) placed 63rdwith a time of 28:21.

James Blaauboer (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) crossed the line next for the Vikings and recorded a final time of 29:38. Steven Lindsay (Rotterdam/Clayton A. Bouton) almost broke the 30-minute threshold as he finished with a time of 30:14.

Joseph Degiorgio (Troy/Troy) completed the Vikings team scoring as he crossed the line with a time of 31:37. 

The cross-country program will take a break before returning to action on October 20 when they compete in the Mountain Valley Conference Championship.
