Cross Country Herkimer Invitational Results

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross-country teams dominated the field at the Herkimer Invitational on Saturday morning as both programs won their respective races. 

The women's team had all five runners cross the finish line in order to claim the top five overall spots with Mercedes Planavsky (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa), leading the way. Planavsky won the meet and finished with a time of 21:13. Sarah Rosenberger (Home School/Saratoga Springs) crossed the line in second place with a time of 22:41 and Leigha Gaschel (Cairo/Cairo-Durham) finished third overall with a final time of 23:30.

Anna Clarke (Bethlehem/Bethlehem) and Ashley Martinez (Red Hook/Red Hook) rounds out the final scoring for the women's team. Clarke placed fourth overall with a time of 24:23 and Martinez finished fifth with a time of 26:18. 

The men's team placed first overall and had seven runners place inside the top-10 with Jared Craw (Colonie/Colonie) leading the way. Craw won the race as he crossed the finish line with an official time of 22:57. Holden Maynard (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) placed second with a time of 24:00. 

James Blaauboer (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) crossed the line next in third place and recorded a final time of 24:28. Steven Lindsay (Rotterdam/Clayton A. Bouton) finished fourth and had a time of 24:37 and Ryan Moon (Colonie/Colonie) crossed the line in sixth place as the Vikings fifth and final scorer of the race. Moon's final time was 25:00. 

Miles James (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) and Shaun Buerker (Guilderland/Guilderland) finished ninth and tenth respectively. James had a final time of 25:49 and Buerker crossed the line with a time of 26:14. 

The cross-country program is back in action on Saturday, October 6 for the James Earley Invitational on the campus of Westfield State at 10:30 a.m.
