Cross Country Runs Well at Bard Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross-country teams performed well at the Fred Pavlich Invitational at Bard College on Saturday morning as the men placed fifth overall and the women finished sixth.

The women's team had three runners place inside the top-30 of the race with Mercedes Planavsky (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa), leading the way. Planavsky finished eighth overall with a time of 25:54 in the 6K race. Sarah Rosenberger (Home School/Saratoga Springs) crossed the line in 21stplave with a time of 27:04 and Leigha Gaschel (Cairo/Cairo-Durham) finished 29thoverall with a final time of 27:48. 

Anna Clarke (Bethlehem/Bethlehem) and Ashley Martinez (Red Hook/Red Hook) rounds out the final scoring for the women's team. Clarke placed 43rdwith a time of 28:41 and Martinez finished with a time of 32:06.  

The men's team placed fifth overall and had two runners place inside the top-20 with Jared Craw (Colonie/Colonie) leading the way. Craw crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 28:21 in the 8K race. Holden Maynard (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) finished 19thwith an official time of 30:18. 

James Blaauboer (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), Ryan Moon (Colonie/Colonie) and Joseph Degiorgio (Troy/Troy) rounds out the Vikings scoring. Blaauboer finished 34thwith a time of 30:55. Ryan Moonplaced 40thoverall with a final time of 31:23 and Degiorgio crossed the line at 32:34. 

The cross-country program is back in action on Saturday, September 29 when they travel to participate in the Herkimer Invitational at 10 a.m.
