The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NJCAA National Championship on Saturday, Nov. 13, with the men finishing in fifth place and the women finishing in 12th , place both out of 25 teams.
The top male runner was Eric Young (Shaker/Latham) who came in ninth out of 135 runners with a time of 28:16. Eric also earned Second Team All-American Honors. Adam Coolong (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga) came in 34th (29:32) and David Degon (Ballston Spa/Aiken, SC) placed 24th (29:11), improving his time from the regionals.
For the women, the top female runner was Amanda Slyer (Averill Park/Troy) with a time of 22:26 placing her 25th out of 111 runners. Nicole Dootz (Bethlehem/Feura Bush) put in a good effort, placing 41st with a time of 23:13.
Both men and women had a good season, improving their times and placing better than last year. Coach Terry looks forward to next year.
