The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11. The men tied for fifth place with Union College, out of 17 teams. The women didn't compete as a team.
The top male runner was Eric Young (Shaker/Latham) who came in fourteenth out of 167 runners with a time of 29:00 in the 5.2 mile race. Devon Sedgwick (Shaker/Latham) placed twenty-sixth (30:04) and Adam Coolong (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga) came in thirty-eighth (30:35).
In the women's 5K race of 129 participants, impressive performances were turned in by Amanda Slyer (Averill Park/Troy) (21:24) and Nicole Dootz (Bethlehem/Feura Bush) (23:00), who came in fortieth and sixty-fifth, respectively.
The men and women both run next Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Bard College Invitational.
