The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the SUNY IT Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 4, with the men coming away with first place out of 10 colleges. The Vikings' Eric Young (Shaker/Latham) was the overall individual winner, defeating 111 runners with a time of 20:01. Young missed the course record by five seconds.
Other notables were Devon Sedgwick (Shaker/Latham) who came in fifth place with a time of 20:58 and David Degon (Ballston Spa/Aiken, SC) who ran 21:44 which was good enough for sixteenth place.
The women did not compete as a team, but had some impressive individual showings that included Amanda Slyer (Averill Park/Troy) who came in seventeenth out of 90 runners with a time of 23:35 and Nicole Dootz (Bethlehem/Feura Bush) whose time of 23:47 was good enough for twenty-ninth place.
Both teams look to continue their success when they race in the Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m.
