Hudson Valley Community College's men's outdoor track and field student-athlete, Brooks Robson (Bennington, VT / Mt. Anthony Union) won the 2024 NJCAA National Championship in the men's triple jump during the opening day of the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mohawk Valley.
Robson has been dominant in the triple jump event all season as he won the event in each meet he participated in, except one, where he had a second-place finish at UAlbany's Bobbi Palma Spring Classic on April 19th. Brooks won the national title with an official jump of 14.23m, defeating the second-place finisher, Mohawk Valley's Keenan Cannon, by 0.19m.
As a team, Brooks was the only Vikings individual to score points for the team and the men's program currently sits in ninth place overall with 10 team points, courtesy of Robson's national title. However, the Vikings men's 4x100 relay team of Raj Hillhouse, Ben Ross, Kyler Alston and Jordan Goddard set the school record in the event. The team ran an official time of 42.83 seconds to break to 43 year old record of 42.9 seconds from 1981.
The men's track and field program returns to action tomorrow for day two of the 2024 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships beginning at 9 a.m. at Mohawk Valley Community College.
