The Hudson Valley Community College men's outdoor track and field program is ranked fifth in the most recent edition of the 2023 NJCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index, which was released this week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Vikings have two individuals sitting atop the national leader board in their respective events. Charles Benichoux returned to the top of the men's 100M dash with a time of 10.62 seconds. Following a big day at the Bobbi Palma Spring Classic at UAlbany, Brooks Robson jumped in front of the national rankings in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.96m.
Brooks Robson was recently named the USTFCCCA Male Athlete of the Week. The wind cooperated for Brooks Robson at the Bobbi Palma UAlbany Spring Classic.
In the middle of a triple jump competition with mostly wind-aided jumps, Robson bounded out to 13.96m (45-9¾) in round three to win the meet and add more than a foot to his PR in taking the NJCAA Division III yearly lead in the event. His winning mark is one centimeter (½ inch) better than the winning effort from last year's NJCAA Division III Championships.
Robson is the second male athlete from Hudson Valley CC to be named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.
Overall, the program has five marks within the national top-5 and 15 marks within the national top-10 with just two weeks until the 2023 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for May 11-13 at Mohawk Valley in Utica, NY.
