Track and Field Competes in Bobbi Palma Spring Classic at UAlbany

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field program competed in the Bobbi Palma Spring Classic in their final tune-up before the NJCAA Region 3 Championships next weekend at Hudson Valley Community College.

The men's program had 13 individuals earn top-10 finishes on the day and was highlighted by a first-place finish by Brooks Robson in the men's triple jump. Robson finished atop the field with a final jump of 13.96m.

In the other jump events, Daniel Honsinger placed eighth overall in the men's long jump as he posted a distance of 6.18m. Jonathan Hanna placed fourth overall in the men's high jump as he accumulated a flight of 1.80m.

In the throwing events, Guerin Dupuis placed third overall in the men's shot put with an official distance of 11.67m. Aiden Alaxanian also placed third in his event, the men's javelin, tossing a final distance of 39.63m.

In the hammer throw, Jalen Graham and Robert Fitzgerald placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Graham tossed the hammer 45.77m, while Fitzgerald hit a distance of 37.34m.

The men's team also performed well in the track events. Led by Adam Blough and Charles Benichoux, who both placed second overall in their respective events. Blough was runner-up in the men's 3,000m steeple as he posted a time of 11:51.79. Benichoux place second in the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.62, 0.22 seconds off the HVCC school record for the event.

The men's team had three top-10 finished in the 110m hurdles event. Led by Demetrius Williams, who placed sixth overall, posted a time of 16.02 seconds. Xavier Hughes placed eighth (17.93) and Dylan Lawless finished ninth (18.08). Anthony Johnson placed seventh overall in the men's 400m event with a time of 53.32.

On the women's team, they earned five top-10 finishes and were led by Sophie Ericson, who placed fifth overall in the women's discus throw with a distance of 25.95m. Isabella Guyer also earned a top-10 finish in the women's hammer throw as she placed eighth overall with a throw of 25.23m.

Alyssa Bruno placed sixth in the women's long jump with a distance of 4.30m and Setalnisa Osman-Mergani finished sixth overall in the women's 100m dash and posted a time of 13.36 seconds and Sanbegoure Meda earned a seventh-place finish in the women's 400m event with a time of 1:04.14.

The men's and women's track and field programs return to action on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 as they host the multi-events portion of the NJCAA Region 3 Championships at the Outdoor Athletic Complex at HVCC.
