Men's Track & Field Placed 4th at Jim Sheehan Invitational; Women Placed 18th

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field programs competed in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Track & Field Meet at Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Mass. on Saturday morning.

As a team, the men placed fourth overall as they accumulated 58 total points, defeating quality four-year northeastern programs like Worcester State, UMass Boston and the Naval Academy Prep School and tied a competitive Keene State program.

Leading the way for the men's program was Demetrius Williams, who accumulated 16 team points as he placed second in the men's 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles events. Charles Benichoux placed second in the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.92 seconds and earned eight points for the team's tally.

In the field events, Guerin Dupuis and Brooks Robson each tallied 10 team points with Robson placing fourth overall in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.18m and fourth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.94m. Gupuis earned 10 points in the men's shot put as he tossed a distance of 12.47m.

On the women's side, Alyssa Bruno and Ellicia Swedish combined to score three points as the team placed 18th overall in the 21 scored events. Bruno placed seventh overall in the women's high jump as she jumped a distance of 1.45m. Swedish scored in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 17:01.51, which placed her in eighth place overall in the event.

Up next for the track programs is the Middlesex College Invitational on Saturday, April 15th in Edison, NJ as they gear up for the NJCAA Regional Championships, which will be hosted by Hudson Valley on April 29-30 and May 6.
