Track and Field Hitting Qualifying Marks in First Outdoor Meet

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field programs were outside competing for the first time since the 2019 season as they traveled to participate in the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. on Saturday. 

In the non-scoring event, the Vikings has several individuals reach qualifying marks for the 2022 NJCAA Nationals, which will be hosted by Hudson Valley on May 12-14 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.  

Hitting the Qualifying Marks:
Charles Benichoux qualified for nationals as he won the 100m dash with a time of 10.75.

Deiondre Rosembert qualified for nationals in the 200m dash as he finished in second place with a time of 22.8. 

Lia Soares qualified for nationals in the 100m dash as she posted a time of 13.57. 

Dan Honsinger qualified in the long jump with a score of 6.25m.

Olivia Skylstad also hit a qualifying mark in the 1500m event with a time of 5:29. 

Additional Top Finishers:
Vinny Levchenko earned a top-5 finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:05.59.
