The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer program fought-hard but ultimately fell to the No. 9 Cayuga Spartans 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of HVCC.

The difference maker in today's game were the two successful penalty kicks by Cayuga. They converted on back-to-back opportunities to put them up by as many as 3-1 with 25-minutes remaining in the game.

Less than three minutes later, the Vikings cut into the deficit as Tuyishime Gafasha collected a rebounded save and sent it to the back of the net for the goal. Minutes later, the Vikings had another opportunity with an apparent goal, but was called off due to the Vikings being offside on the play.

Brennan Halbohm continued his scoring streak for Hudson Valley as he converted on an assist from Lwel Say for the Vikings first goal of the game and his sixth goal of the season.

The game came down to the tiny details and which team could take advantage of a small mistake. Hudson Valley played tough throughout and just missed a great opportunity to upset a top-10 program.

The men's soccer program returns to action as they travel to take on No. 5 Mohawk Valley (8-0-2) on Friday, October 6 in Utica, NY.
