The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer program came out victorious in a Region 3 battle at SUNY Broome as the Vikings secured the 3-2 overtime win on Anthony Rouse's golden goal with two minutes remaining in the first overtime period.

The Vikings were cruising with a 2-0 advantage for the majority of the game after Jaycen Janusz scored twice in the first half of the game. His first goal was on an assist from Ty Plumley as he collected the pass from inside the 18-box for the score. His second goal was on an assist from Anthony Rouse. Janusz sent the pass from beyond 20-yards out for the laser shot to the back of the net.

SUNY Broome fought all the way back as they scored twice with less than five minutes remaining in the game to tie the game at two. The Hornets almost stole the win from the Vikings at the horn, but the possible game-winning goal was called off by the officials and the game entered the first overtime period.

In overtime, Rouse put in the golden goal to give the Vikings their second straight overtime win this week. Hudson Valley improves its record to 8-3-1 as they head into a critical Region 3 home match with Mohawk Valley this Saturday, October 8. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Outdoor Athletic Complex in Troy, NY.
