Men's Soccer Earns Shutout Win over Niagara

The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer program continued on its winning ways as they swept the Western NY road trip after defeating Niagara 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in Sanborn, NY. 

The Vikings handed their business against Niagara as they put points on the board early in the first half and then added four more goals in the second half to secure a dominant road win, their second straight in as many days. 

Phenyo Ward starting everything at the 38-minute mark in the first half with seven minutes remaining in the half, on an assist from Jack Goldman. Ward later added his second goal of the game, the Vikings first of the second half, on an assist from Jaycen Janusz

Abbas Ghulam had a career day in the second half as he scored the Vikings next three goals, all within a 17-minute time frame. Ghulam's first goal was an assisted goal at the 28-minute mark. He later scored two more goals on assists from Anthony Rouse and Ivan Gomez.

The Vikings will return home on Thursday, Sept. 15 when they take on Albany College of Pharmacy at 5 p.m. at the Outdoor Athletic Complex at Hudson Valley Community College. The game will be live streamed at hvccathletics.com/WATCH.
