Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer (2-1) continued their strong play as they won their second straight game after Clinton on Sunday afternoon in Plattsburgh, NY.

The game got off to a rough start with a miss communication by the Vikings defense on a Clinton free kick opportunity in the opening minute of the game. Leaving a man wide open for a back-post goal, the Vikings found themselves trailing very early 1-0.

Overcoming the early blooper, the Vikings recovered and dominated the possession throughout the rest of the match. Hudson Valley was unable to score in the first half and entered the break trailing 1-0.

Coming out of the break, the Vikings responded with a fast start in the second. Conor VanSise put the Vikings on the board off of a deflected cross that went into the back of the net. Nearly 20 minutes later, Rayan Mama Amadou took a free kick from about 35 yards out from the left side. The Clinton goalkeeper appeared to have misplayed the approach and the keeper was caught on the wrong foot and couldn't reach make the save as he punched the ball inside the net for the Vikings second goal of the game.

The Vikings defense locked down Clinton for the remainder of the game to secure the 2-1 victory.

The men's soccer team is back in action this Wednesday, Sept. 11 as they travel to face SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury, NY. The game is scheduled to begin around 3 p.m., following the conclusion of the women's soccer match.
