Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer (4-3) were defeated by Mohawk Valley in a hard-fought 1-0 match at home on Wednesday afternoon.
Mohawk Valley jumped out to the 1-0 lead nearly halfway through the opening half of the game when Isaak Somow found the back of the net at the 19:52 mark.
The remainder of the game was a back-and-forth defensive match between two evenly matched teams. The Vikings had several opportunities to tie the goal throughout the day, but the luck wasn't on their side. Mohawk Valley's keeper, Santiago Rojas recorded seven saves in the shutout win.
Hudson Valley's goalkeeper, Nate Langlois (Colonie/Colonie) had a nice game in goal, only allowing the one score and recorded six saves.
The men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 26 as they travel to face regional rival Herkimer at 4:30 p.m.
