Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer (1-1) earned a hard fought 2-1 win over Tompkins Cortland this evening in Dryden, NY.

The Vikings were led by freshman Ryan Willis as he benefitted from a pair of great assists by Nick Savallo (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and Wickson Joseph (Hudson/Hudson). Willis' first goal came on a pass from Savallo, which set Willis up for the goal in the box.

With the game tied 1-1 in the second half, Joseph found Willis for his second goal, which turned out to be the game-winning score after the Vikings held Tompkins Cortland off the board for the remainder of the match.

The Vikings goalkeeper, Nathan Langlois (Colonie/Colonie) recorded two saves in the win as Hudson Valley managed seven shots and held the advantage over the Panthers with five corners.

The men's soccer team is off this week and return to action on Tuesday, September 4 when they travel to play Fulton-Montgomery at 4:00 p.m.
